A sand washing plant (sand washing production line) is designed to clean various sand and gravel dust, stones, and other impurities in river sand, ground sand, and weathered sand. The washed sand and gravel products have wide applications in sand yards, mixing plants, and various engineering projects to assist in the smooth development of sand-making processes.
In this article, we will detail sand washing plants, including a complete set, working process, advantages, types and applications. Sandreck has complete sand washing plants and extensive relevant experience. We can provide you with professional technical guidance.

Complete Set Sand Washing Plant
A complete sand washing plant consists of several key components that work together to wash gravel efficiently and reliably.
1. Feeding Equipment
For uniform and continuous feeding of crushing equipment, it is common to use vibrating feeders.
2. Crushing Equipment
It consists of coarse crushing, medium and fine crushing. For coarse crushing of large stones, jaw crushers and heavy hammer crushers are usually used. Secondary crushing or shaping crushing is often using impact crushers, cone crushers, etc. And fine sand-making often uses double roller sand-making machines, VSI sand-making machines, etc.
3. Screening Equipment
In a sand washing plant, it often uses vibrating screens to separate coarse stones, medium sand and fine sand efficiently.
4. Sand Washing Machine
Spiral sand washing machine, wheel sand washing machine and integrated tailings recovery machine can efficiently capture fine sand from sand washing wastewater, improve material utilization, save resources and achieve environmentally friendly.

5. Dewatering Machine
Both the recovered fine sand and the coarse sand are passed onto a dewatering screen. This shakes out excess moisture and reduces the water content to roughly 10-15%, making the sand ready for immediate transport and storage.
Working Process of a Sand Washing Plant
Various raw materials, including mountain rock, natural river sand, crushed stone and construction waste recycled aggregate, are sent by belt conveyor to the vibrating feeder. Feeding materials into the next stage and screens out ultra-fine soil in advance to avoid blocking subsequent equipment.
Oversized rock blocks will be delivered into the jaw crusher and sand making machine for secondary crushing and shaping, turning massive stone into uniform sand and gravel particles. After crushing, mixed aggregates are transported to the vibrating screen. Multiple layers of screen meshes divide materials into coarse stone, medium gravel and raw sand according to different particle sizes, removing oversize unqualified stones to be re-crushed.
Qualified raw sand flows into a wheel or spiral sand washer with continuous water injection. During the stirring and rolling process, surface mud, cement residue, dust and other impurities are fully separated from sand grains.
The muddy wastewater carrying a large amount of lost fine sand flows to the integrated tailings recovery machine. To prevent fine, valuable sand grains from washing away with the wastewater, the water-sand mixture is pumped through magnetic equipment or gravity separation equipment. They separate heavy fine sand from the dirty water and remaining silt.
All cleaned coarse aggregate, medium sand and recovered fine sand are conveyed by separate belt conveyors to finished product piles for stacking and sale. Sediment in the sediment tank can be pressed into mud cakes via a filter press to realize zero discharge of wastewater.

Types of Sand Washing Plants
We provide a range of sand washing solutions to meet different operational requirements.
1. Stationary Sand Washing Plant
Ideal for fixed quarry or mining sites with large-scale, long-term production needs. These plants are built for high capacity and maximum efficiency, with robust structures designed for continuous operation.
2. Mobile/Portable Sand Washing Plant
Perfect for temporary or remote sites, these plants feature a compact, wheeled or tracked chassis for easy transportation. They can be quickly set up and moved between locations, offering flexibility for small to medium-scale projects.
3. Specialized Solutions
Depending on specific sand and gravel requirements, professionals can develop customized sand washing plans to improve the efficiency of the sand washing process.

Applicable Industries
Sand washing machines are widely used across industries such as sand and gravel yards, mining, construction materials, transportation, chemicals, water conservancy and hydropower, and concrete mixing plants for material washing and screening. They effectively remove impurities from the surfaces of sand and gravel while breaking down the moisture film coating the sand grains—thereby facilitating dewatering—to deliver efficient sand washing and cleaning performance.
