How does a Vertical Grinding Mill Work?

The Sandreck vertical grinding mill integrates grinding, drying, and classification functions. It is highly efficient and energy-saving, and capable of processing materials with high moisture content.

Material Feeding and Distribution

Mineral particles are fed evenly into the center of the vertical mill’s grinding table. A drive motor rotates the table at a high peripheral speed, using centrifugal force to push the material toward the outer edge.

Primary Grinding Process

Grinding rollers apply downward hydraulic pressure to the material at the edge of the table, grinding it in a thin layer and pulverizing it into fine powder.

Classification and Fineness Control

Carried by a hot airflow from below, the fine powder enters the classifier. Powder fineness is controlled by adjusting the classifier’s rotational speed or blade angle. Particles meeting specifications proceed to the system or collection bin, while oversized particles fall back onto the grinding table.

Closed-Loop Operation

Oversized particles are reground. This process, combined with newly fed material, forms a closed-loop cycle that ensures the final product meets quality standards.
